I made this moment with my camera at Ruby Beach, Washington. While battling cold winds and rain, I watched an older man walk gingerly on the shore. I was overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions about life as I made and edited this photo. Ashy Solitude is an attempt to express what I felt and saw on this colorless day.

"My ah Me" is a visual born on the shores of South Beach, precisely at the 8th Street Station. This photograph is a harmonious blend of three images. My ever-reliable Canon T5i, partnered with a wide-angle 16mm lens, enabled me to bring this scene to life.
As I peered through the lens, I carefully orchestrated the lifeguard station's placement within the frame, making in-camera adjustments that allowed the station to stand as a focal point against the canvas of a breathtaking sky. The celestial expanse above unveiled an intricate dance of clouds, its pattern mirroring the strategic arrangement of the station below. And, as a subtle stroke of human presence, a lone gentleman could be spotted in the distance, adding a touch of perspective to this serene and captivating scene.

As I arrived at the scene, I couldn't help but notice a congregation of roughly 30 photographers capturing the unfolding sunrise from the north side of Anglin's Fishing Pier. So, I deliberately walked towards the south side, aiming to frame the magnificent sunrise with the imposing pier in the foreground. There, I found myself in the company of just two other photographers.
Camera in hand, I ventured as close to the waves as I dared, gracefully avoiding their watery embrace. My commitment to the shot led me to lay flat on the ground, seeking to immerse myself fully in the scene. It was the relentless crashing of the waves that I wished to emphasize, a powerful and chaotic force that held the key to creating this dramatic image.
In post-processing, I enhanced the vibrance and saturation ever so slightly, a subtle homage to the warm and windy morning's vibrancy. To accentuate the contrast within the frame, I chose to darken the silhouetted pier and its occupants, as they became mere shadows against the burgeoning light of dawn. I attempt to convey the intricate interplay between serenity and chaos, each coexisting in harmonious disarray.
